Winning Deutsche Bahn as a partner is probably a big goal for every start-up. And we are very pleased that we have managed to do just that. In the course of a challenge of the “DB mindbox” (start-up hub of Deutsche Bahn), we were able to qualify for a 100-day programme of the “Zukunftsinitiative Bahnbau”.

Back in June of this year, we applied for a special challenge: the “Future of railroad construction industry 2022” challenge of the “DB mindbox”. Mindbox is looking for innovative solutions for Deutsche Bahn AG to meet its challenges. This initiative includes DB Netz and DB Bahnbau as well as their partners Max Bögl, Strabag, Leonhard Weiss, Spitzke, KAF Falkenhahn and Jaeger Bernburg, which are among the largest construction companies in Germany. In addition, Autobahn GmbH was also represented at this challenge to cover the area of road construction as well.

The aim of the tender? Making railway construction sites more digital, efficient and shorter to find modern technologies that digitise, optimise and automate processes. Exactly the right keyword for our system for surveying with construction machinery: The SDX-4DVision.

Out of 97 applications, DB mindbox made us one of the eleven finalists who were allowed to pitch in Berlin on 08.09.2022. The finalists included start-ups that deal intensively with digitalisation in construction, Building Information Modelling and automation of construction processes.
Before the pitches, there were intensive workshops in which I gave a deeper insight into our surveying technology. I explained in detail how our system records point clouds with construction machines in real time and how this contributes to the optimisation of construction processes. But above all, how advantageous it is to be able to call up all the data in the office without being on the construction site.

In the evening, I was finally able to deliver my pitch in front of the top-class jury from the fields of innovation, BIM, planning, etc. And one thing I can say: our system was convincing all along the line.

As one of the five winning start-ups, we qualified for Deutsche Bahn’s 100-day programme and are now actively supporting Deutsche Bahn’s construction sites as a partner in surveying and documenting construction projects. Without any staff, fully automatic and in real time.

Because that is what the SDX-4DVision stands for. Automated surveying in civil engineering!

We are already looking forward to the 100 days and all the experiences we will gain!
